2025 Top Four Regional Elimination Winners

Gulf Coast Texas Region held their annual Regional Elimination Trial on March 1-2, 2025 in Floresville, TX. I was a little hopeful that the weather from our past week would hold and temps wouldn’t be too high. But we are from Texas and if you don’t like the weather, just wait. Saturday morning started out with decent temps for about the first 30 minutes with no wind in sight. Steadily rising temps offered around 80+ degrees and no wind for the majority of the weekend. Both dogs and handlers were faced with some challenging conditions. However, terrific grounds, offered by our hosts Scott and Marilyn Thomas, made up for any difficult weather. We couldn’t ask for better grounds and we’re grateful to our landowners. We also want to express our appreciation to the trial officials; judges Cray String and Don Markham, bird planter Bo Marcum, field marshal Scott Thomas, scorekeeper Holly Copeland and the member/volunteers who kept us fed and on time. Ken and Holly Copeland prepared a tasty shrimp dinner with lots of sides for our Saturday evening banquet. A special big thank you goes to Martin Ueltschey for hosting the trial.

Saturday’s top 16 were led by winners: 
  • 1st Big’un and Maggie Parsley 
  • 2nd Belle and Marion Woolie 
  • 3rd Bru and Patrick Sauer 
  • 4th Halley and Patrick Sauer (O/Scott Thomas)
Sunday morning’s run brought the top 6 in for a hot, still, afternoon brace with: 
  • 1st (12-year old) Lulu and Mike Brackin 
  • 2nd Cotton and Maggie Parsley 
  • 3rd Bru and Patrick Sauer 
  • 4th Boone and Carson Binns 
  • 5th Tip and Martin Ueltschey
  • 6th Ellie and Martin Ueltschey
The last hour brought Patrick/Bru and Martin/Ellie to the line for a final round.
